Mi amor a las cosas bellas y antiguas viene de mi madre. Vivíamos en una casa antigua de madera y ella la llenaba con muebles y objetos con encanto y personalidad.
Ya siendo niña, en Helsinki iba a tiendas de segunda mano y veía tesoros en todos los objetos gastados, en las cosas que ya habían vivido una primera vida. No podía resistirme a adquirir cosas hechas de buenos materiales. Aún disfruto sintiendo entre mis dedos tejidos como la lana, la seda y el terciopelo.
Desde joven he disfrutado con las manualidades. Después de Bachillerato hice la carrera de costurera y continué con la de diseño textil. En 2004 hice un intercambio Erasmus en la Universitat Politècnica de València, y más adelante me mudé a Valencia.
Desde hace más de 20 años empecé a trabajar como autónomo para revistas de decoración en Finlandia. Hoy en día sigue siendo mi profesión. Por los artículos que he escrito, he tenido la oportunidad de entrar en casas con decoraciones fascinantes. Y he escrito sus historias, en las que los objetos tienen muchas cosas que contar.
Durante mi vida, he ido recogiendo cosas que los demás no querían. Para no echarlos a perder, he guardado grandes cantidades de cosas que parecían absurdas: desde jabones decorativos hasta agendas antiguas y gafas graduadas. Y allí seguían conmigo cuando Virginia me propuso empezar este proyecto. Me di cuenta de que todos esos objetos guardados habían estado esperando a Artefacto.
A veces, los caminos nos sorprenden.
My love for beautiful things comes from my mother. We lived in an old wooden house, which she filled with charming furniture and objects full of personality.
Even as a child, I went to the flea markets and saw treasures in all decayed and unique objects, in the things that already had lived a life. I couldn´t resist things made of materials of great quality. I still get thrilled savouring with my fingers fabrics such as wool, silk and velvet.
I’ve enjoyed crafts since I was young. After high school, I studied dressmaking and then textile design. In 2004, I did an Erasmus exchange at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, and later I moved to Valencia.
I started working as a freelancer for interior design magazines in Finland over 20 years ago. It’s still my profession today. Thanks for the articles I have written I´ve had the possibility to enter homes with fascinating decorations. I have told their stories, in which the objects have had a lot to say.
Time and again I have saved curious stuff that others didn´t want. To prevent those things from being thrown away, I have kept enormous amounts of things that seemed absurd: From decorative soaps to old agendas and graduated eyeglasses. There they were, kept safe, until Virginia proposed to start a project with her. I realised that all those stored objects had been waiting for Artefacto.
Sometimes unexpected paths appear.
